Yes – with the Uffizi, the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore and Michelangelo's David in the Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence is one of Europe's richest cities for art history. The Uffizi, the cathedral complex and the Ponte Vecchio fit comfortably into a short trip. Visit the main sights early in the morning or late in the afternoon and the city feels far calmer.

Two full days cover the historic centre: day one for the cathedral, the dome and the Uffizi, day two for Palazzo Pitti, the Boboli Gardens and the Oltrarno district. A third day lets you add Siena, San Gimignano or a Chianti wine tour without rushing.

April to early June and September to October bring mild weather with moderate crowds. July and August are hot and very busy; the Easter and summer high season brings noticeably larger crowds at the Uffizi and the cathedral.

If you plan more than three or four rides a day or visit places outside the centre such as Peretola airport, a day ticket for bus and tram beats single tickets. For short hops in the historic centre, walking is usually faster.

Spot checks take place on Autolinee Toscane buses and trams. Without a valid ticket you face a fine. At attractions like the Uffizi, staff scan your QR code at the entrance – no valid ticket or matching time slot, no entry.
